They say it takes a community to raise a child. It can also be said that it takes a community to support the child after he or she reaches adulthood.
Mission Statement: At Sequoia Mental Health Services, a Beaverton, Oregon based non-profit organization, we believe people with mental health disabilities can live independently in the community. We provide services to achieve that life.
But all too often, those with special needs are nudged outside the boundaries of the mainstream. At Sequoia our goal is to help adults with long-term psychiatric, emotional and developmental impairments by surrounding them with a staff, volunteers and resources – a community – focused on helping them achieve self-sufficiency and productivity in an environment that is grounded in compassion, integrity and respect for their strengths.
At Sequoia we provide both clinical and housing assistance that engages special needs individuals in a way that enables them to grow and enhance the community around them.
